They are between 4 and 5 years old. His soil was alkaline and hard.
He dug a hole 2 ft wide and 18 inches deep. It was filled with top soil, peat moss and sulphur (to bring down the pH). He also used "Ironite" to provide the minerals that are missing in alkaline soil. For fertilizer the first 2 years 4 tree stakes were used as well as lawn fertilizer. The owner said lots of water is the key.
Just a picture of your trees to show folks just how well your trees really do grow!!! I have purchased your trees in Bend, Oregon, Idaho Falls, Idaho and now in Florence, Montana (about 19 miles south of Missoula, MT). App. 80 trees in all and have only lost one (which you replaced). Also the neighbor dog (an Akita) bit one off about 4 inches above the ground, which I left, and it grew back better than the rest. This is a picture of the trees from last year that were planted in June and this picture was taken in September. I am going to plant more this year. Several people everywhere I have lived planted the trees once they saw how well they really do grow. Great trees, I wish you a lot of success!!!!!

HERE IS A PICTURE OF MY TREES THAT I RECEIVED IN MARCH OF 2005. TREE #1 IS ABOUT 13 FEET TALL NOW AFTER 4 MONTH IN THE GROUND-PICTURE WAS SENT ON 7/27/05.
I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THESE TREES. THEY ARE GROWING BETTER THAN THE FRUITLESS MULBERRY'S THAT I PLANTED THREE YEARS AGO.
I FERTILIZER THEM WITH MIRACLE GROW TREE SPIKES AND A CONSTANT SUPPLY OF HORSE MANURE AND CHICKEN MANURE AND LOTS OF WATER.
I CAN'T WAIT TO GET MORE WHEN YOU RETURN IN THE FALL. THANK YOU, JIM
