Zone 9-10, dry desert, up to 122 degrees during summer.  Androscoggins were 38 inches tall on May 1 of 2001 growing to 99 inches by Sept 1 of the same year. They used 5 gallons of water twice a day with half cup of lime every week for extremely acidic water and soil.  Used 1 cup soybean meal one week then miracle grow the alternate week
